Ibiza vibes on the Costa Brava, Spain

Ibiza vibes on the Costa Brava, Spain

With the weather calling for the sea, this house designed by architect Ana Hernández, founder of Her Arquitectura on the Costa Brava, smells like a beach house, but is a curious permanent home.

What makes this house so special, besides being beautiful and full of soul, is the concept behind it: the floor plan is completely open and the couple who own it can see each other from every corner, there are no doors or shutters on the windows. Another of the owners' requirements was that the house should convey the spirit of Ibiza, which we believe they achieved very well, both indoors and out. As book lovers and avid readers, the house also had to have space to store lots of books, which was ensured by the magnificent floor-to-ceiling bookcase next to the fireplace for the coldest winter days, since this is a permanent home, although it feels like a relaxed holiday home.

The house follows the maxim that less is more and its decor is austere, completely dispensing with superfluous furniture, which is part of the architecture itself, minimizing elements that, according to the architect, allow for a better experience of the space itself. The irregularity of the paint on the walls in earthy tones gives the sensation of imperfection, a concept so dear today. Even the bedroom they designed to receive guests is peculiar, as there is no door here; the stairs that raise it from the ground floor are the only guarantee of privacy.

Take a look at the disarming creativity and functionality that this house, in the mountains and by the sea, contains and that make it so inspiring.
